Faculty of Architecture, Dr.MGR Educational and Research Institute, organizes its MGaRchianz’ Webinar Series – Session III on topic “Understanding the Heritage Structures: Ethics and Management & Discussion on Multi disciplinary practice”. The speaker for the session is Ar.Thirupurasundari who is an Architect planner (having studied in India, the UK, and France with scholorships ). She is a story teller ,educator , conservation professional working with artisans of traditional materials and techniques as well. She runs an architectural consultancy called Studio Conclave and a social initiative called – Nam veedu Nam oor Nam kadhai. She curates stories on social issues, documents and uses traditional techniques in her projects, and works as a consultant for NGOs, schools and colleges. In the first half of the session she had given us a talk on Understanding about heritage structures and stories behind it, importance of cultural heritage management focusing on ethics. In the second half of the session there was an interactive session from the participants relating to heritage management, community participation contribution towards heritage conservation, etc. There were totally about 90 participants who had attended the webinar session through zoom platform from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.The session had a live streaming through youtube and was shared in Facebook page. There were practicing architects, students, academicians and Research scholars from Chennai and across different states. Few of our international participants were from California, Indonesia and Port of Spain and national from Kolkata, New Delhi, Pune, Jaipur, Hariyana and Gwalior had also participated for the session.
